Live Cam Site Features Explained

A public room is a live stream with a shared chat that anyone can watch, usually free. Tips are one-off payments in tokens, credits or Gold that any viewer can send. A tip goal is a target set by the performer, often shown as a progress bar, and a tip menu lists set amounts for specific requests.

Free public chat is sourced for Chaturbate, Stripchat, MyFreeCams, CAM4, Streamate, Flirt4Free and ImLive (third-party) and for Cams.com and Jerkmate (official), and our editorial review records it for CamSoda, BongaCams, LiveJasmin and Amateur.tv; SkyPrivate officially has none, because its shows are private calls, and LivePrivates does not list it. Cams.com calls its tip-goal format “Tipping Chat”.

A private show is a paid session that leaves the public room, usually billed per minute, but the word does not always mean one-to-one, so check which variant you are buying:

• Exclusive: strictly one viewer, normally at a higher rate. Streamate and Jerkmate use “Exclusive”; LivePrivates offers “Exclusive Private”.
• Shared private: other members can watch or join, such as Streamate’s “Premium” or Cams.com’s “Nude Chat”.
• Spy or voyeur: watching someone else’s private show without interacting, usually cheaper. Cams.com calls it “Voyeur View”; MyFreeCams and CAM4 offer spy shows, according to reviews; LivePrivates sells “Peeks”, whose mechanics it does not describe publicly.

Group shows split the cost of a cam show across several viewers. Cams.com publishes a group price of USD 9.90 for 10 minutes, then USD 0.99 a minute, with seats reserved in advance, plus a cheaper multi-member “Party Chat”. Jerkmate’s and Streamate’s “Gold Shows” are crowdfunded: members contribute Gold toward a goal, with a minimum buy-in on Jerkmate.

A ticket show is a scheduled show you pay a fixed price to enter. ImLive’s “Candy Shows”, as described by reviews, offer a free preview and then a ticketed main show. Ticket shows are recorded on most platforms, mainly through our editorial review; LiveJasmin, SkyPrivate and LivePrivates have none per our review.

Group shows are recorded on every platform except SkyPrivate, for several only through our editorial review. Beyond Cams.com, Jerkmate and Streamate, group shows are sourced for MyFreeCams, Flirt4Free and ImLive (third-party) and LivePrivates’ “VIP Show” (official, details not described).

Cam2cam lets you send your own video to the performer during a session; two-way audio does the same for sound. Cam2cam and two-way audio are normally paid features within private sessions. Cam2cam is sourced on Cams.com, SkyPrivate, Jerkmate and LivePrivates (official) and on Streamate, Flirt4Free and ImLive (third-party), and our editorial review records it on the other eight platforms, so it is available across the directory.

Cam2cam conditions vary by platform: Cams.com states only the performer sees the user; Streamate’s performers may decline, according to reviews; and LivePrivates excludes two-way audio and cam2cam from its free promotional minutes.

Interactive toys are connected devices that the performer links to the platform so that tips or paid commands make them respond for a set time. Prices are usually set by the performer per second or per tip level. SkyPrivate officially describes vibration commands priced by the model at USD 0.10 to 1 per second; ImLive’s “Vibes” are reported at 1 credit for 1 second up to 28 credits for 60 seconds.

All 15 platforms are recorded as supporting interactive toys. Beyond SkyPrivate and ImLive, toy support is sourced for Cams.com, Jerkmate and LivePrivates (official) and Chaturbate, CamSoda and Flirt4Free (third-party), and our editorial review records it for the remaining platforms.

HD means the stream is offered at high-definition resolution, which also depends on the performer’s camera and connection. Cams.com marks HD shows with an icon and LivePrivates offers an “HD Quality” filter; CAM4, Flirt4Free and ImLive are reported to have HD; our editorial review records HD on the other platforms except SkyPrivate, which does not list it.

VR cams use stereoscopic or 360-degree cameras for viewing in a headset. Stripchat and CamSoda have VR reported by third-party sources, and our editorial review records VR on every other platform except SkyPrivate and LivePrivates, which have none.

Recordings on cam sites cover recorded shows and video stores: Cams.com lets members view recorded shows with tokens and free for fan club members; SkyPrivate, Jerkmate, Streamate, CAM4 and Flirt4Free document or are reported to have video stores.

Private messaging lets you contact a performer outside a live show, sometimes at a cost; Flirt4Free’s VIP plan, for example, is reported to include 100 monthly message credits. Favorites, or follows, let you save performers and get alerts when they go online; LivePrivates says higher Club Elite levels unlock more favorite slots.

A fan club is a recurring subscription to one performer, usually with exclusive content; Cams.com, Jerkmate, Flirt4Free and Streamate mention fan clubs. A site membership, such as CAM4 Gold, Flirt4Free VIP or Cams.com Premiere, is a platform-wide plan with perks, distinct from both tokens and fan clubs.
